Favorite Logo
I like this logo because of the way it is designed. The use of the legs as the letter a got my attention and helped convey the message of the word walk. It was creative thinking that the creator of this lofo used which is why it was my favorite of the logos.

Art Made from Money
Fundred
I chose this image from the fundred website because it got the best message across for what they are trying to get accomplished. The message says in it, leave no lead behind with a picture of a living organism shown by the sunflower in the back. The person who made this is trying to get people to leave less lead in the dirt and save lives.

Currency
I find this design from the Cayman Islands very interesting and I like it a lot. The thing that sticks out to me is the shell on the left side and the setting of a beach. The Cayman Islands are known in America as a very nice vacation spot with plenty of nice beaches so the money is appealing to tourists that go there. The colors stand out because they aren't green they are all different colors that make it look a lot more appealing to the human eye. You can see the palm tree, a treasure chest and a boat in the back. To me, the treasure chest is saying that you being there is kind of a like a prized possession. This $10 from the Cayman Islands stood out to me and made the islands look very appealing to go to.
Chuck Close
I like this painting by Chuck Close a lot. I like it because the effects he put in it changes the look of the man. He adds the effects which makes it look like the man's hair is sticking up around his entire head, which intrigued me. The effect also changes the way the man's eyes look. It adds an angry look to the man's face making the picture more serious. I think the painting would have been great before, but because even greater after the effects were put in to change the attitude of the image.
Repetition of Form
This image uses the repetition of the pots as the form of repetition. The repetition brings the sense of unity to the middle of the image and takes everything away from the dull walls. The repetition brings the entire focus to the center of the image, which is what repetition is supposed to do. It is supposed to bring the focus to one specific point that which is done by creating the unity from the images being put close together.

Andy Goldsworthy
I find this picture by Andy Goldsworthy interesting because of the change in colors as the rocks go toward the hole in the middle. It is kind of like when going into a cave or something and the deeper you get the darker the hole in the middle gets. It is a very neat piece of art because of the circle that is created. I like the fact that it isn't chaotic like the other pieces of art we have looked at in class. It is different and resembles a passage through the middle which is quite interesting.

Form vs. Content
The picture above is one that was drawn by Bejamin Franklin and shows a great distinction between form and content. The content of the picture is a message that says the colonies that existed at the time were too seperate and needed to join together as one. The colonies at the time we separated and he was saying if they didn't join together it was going to end in people dying, which is what happened during the civil war. The form of the picture is a political cartoon that he posted in the Pennsylvania Gazette. The cartoon is how Benjamin Franklin decided it was the best way to convey his message.

Lucas Samaras
The box above made by Lucas Samaras really stood out to me over the rest. The man looking back at you in the mirror just caught by eyes and put an immediate interest in me. The box is designed to make it look like someone is looking in the mirror and their reflection is coming back at you. The box has an eerie sense to it and thats what made it interesting. Even the design on the outside of the box with the black and white stripes and the two spots, kind of messes with your eyes and makes you think a little bit. I couldn't tell what was in the box but to me it looked a little like diamonds with something placed in the diamonds. I found this piece to be a mind twisting box that makes you think about what you can see.
Louise Nevelson
This picture of a box by Louise Nevelson stood out to me because it is a house that has different designs over it. At first glance I thought it was a house that was in ruins and was about to fall down, but taking a closer look I noticed that those were just part of the design. She uses all different kind of shapes to give an image that when looked at in different ways it can be perceived to be two different objects all together. It is an amazing piece of art with intricate details.

Joseph Cornell Artwork
I chose this piece of artwork by Joseph Cornell because it was very colorful and stood out to me. I noticed this piece over the rest because of all the types of different birds that existed in it. It interested me to want to know what this piece of art was actually about. To me it seemed like it the picture was about the evolution of the stages of a birds life, but I may be wrong. The puzzle behind the meaning and the detailed colors of the artwork were why I chose this interesting piece by Joseph Cornell.

Design Definition
After reading chapter 1 of the text I came up with my own definition of design based on the concepts. The way I define design is the art of planning and organizing materials to express a specific message or idea. Companies use it to express what they are about and to try to get people to use their product. There are other uses, but this is the definition I came up with after the reading of what the text defines design as.
The logo above of McDonald’s is the design they came up with to try to get people to come there. They use a slogan to go with it that read’s “I’m lovin’ it.” They are trying to convey the message that people love their food and that you should come try it. This is a great example of my definition of design of a company trying to convey a specific message.

Types of Design
Graphic Design is a type of design that uses colorful elements, either pictures or underlying messages to convey a specific message. It is mainly thought of as a visual communication and presentation. Graphic design refers to the process to create the imaging and the imaging itself. Examples of graphic design are logos, web sites, advertisements and many other things.
Engineering Design is the plot or plan that an engineer uses to create a project. It includes a tedious process that includes research, requirements and possible designs to use for the final product. The whole engineering design process is to assist engineers to make the best product possible. Examples include pictures of possible products, and any other piece of information the engineer needs to create the product. The picture below is an example of a final product.
Web design is the process of designing web sites. It is the most simple type of design to understand but isn’t the easiest to complete. It can be comprised of a collection of articles and documents that the author wishes to convey to other people. Web design consists of a lot of different types of information that are all used to convey the specific message or purpose the author has.
